A dryer that runs but doesn't heat is the number one call we get for dryers. On electric dryers it's usually a heating element or a thermal fuse. On gas dryers it's usually the igniter or the gas valve coils. And a lot of the time the real cause is a vent that hasn't been cleaned in years.
Common dryer problems we fix
Runs but no heat
Electric: heating element, thermal fuse or high-limit thermostat. Gas: igniter, flame sensor or gas valve coils.
Takes two or three cycles to dry
Almost always airflow. A clogged lint duct or a long, crushed vent run. We check the vent before we sell you a part.
Won't start
Door switch, thermal fuse, start switch or a broken belt. If the drum turns by hand with no resistance, the belt is gone.
Squealing, thumping or grinding
Drum rollers, idler pulley or drum glides wearing out. Rollers are a common, straightforward fix.
Gets too hot or shuts off
A blocked vent or a failing cycling thermostat. This one is a fire risk, so don't keep running it.
Error code on the display
LG and Samsung dryers throw clear codes for vent blockage and heater faults. Write it down for us.

Frequently asked questions
How much does dryer repair cost?
Dryer repairs start from $275. The final price depends on the brand, model and part. The $219 service call is free if you go ahead with the repair.
Do you work on gas dryers?
Yes, gas and electric. On gas dryers we check the igniter, flame sensor and valve coils, and we check for leaks when we're done.
Do you clean dryer vents?
We check the vent on every dryer call, because a clogged vent is behind a lot of 'broken' dryers. If the run needs a full cleaning or a roof vent cleared, we'll tell you.
Why does my dryer keep blowing the thermal fuse?
Because something is making it overheat, usually a blocked vent. Replacing the fuse without fixing the airflow just means it'll blow again.
