Appliance Repair Cost: How Our Pricing Works

An appliance repair visit from Bay Appliance Repair starts with a $219 service call, and the service call is free if you go with the repair. After the diagnosis you get the exact repair price before any work starts, with no hidden fees.

Before you book a repair, you want to know what it will cost. Here is how pricing works at Bay Appliance Repair for homes and rentals across the San Francisco Bay Area, in plain terms.

How much is the service call?

Every visit starts with a service call. A technician comes to your home, checks the appliance and finds the cause of the problem. The service call is $219.

Is the service call free if I go with the repair?

If you decide to go with the repair we recommend, the service call is free. You pay for the repair, not for the visit on top of it. If you decide not to repair, the $219 service call is the only charge.

You get the exact price before any work starts

We don’t guess and we don’t start the clock. After the diagnosis, the technician gives you the exact price for the repair before any work begins. You decide whether to go with the repair. There are no hidden fees, and nothing gets added once you’ve said yes.

Why can’t you quote a repair price before seeing the appliance?

The cost of a repair depends on the appliance, the model and the part it needs. A refrigerator that needs a door gasket and one that needs a control board are very different jobs, even on the same brand. Any price list would be wrong for most people. That’s why we give you a firm price for your appliance after we’ve seen it, instead of a range online.

Do coupons or the senior discount apply to the service call?

Our current coupons and senior discount apply to the repair only. They don’t apply to the $219 service call. Mention the coupon or discount when you book so it can be noted on your appointment.

How to keep the cost down

  • Have the model number ready. It’s usually on a label inside the fridge door, around the door opening of a dishwasher, or behind the door or lid of a washer or dryer. It helps us bring the right part on the first visit when we can.
  • Describe what’s happening. Error codes, noises, leaks and when the problem started all help the diagnosis. Our guides for Samsung refrigerator, LG washer and Bosch dishwasher error codes explain the common ones.
  • Try the simple checks first. A tripped breaker, a closed water valve or a clogged filter isn’t a repair. Our troubleshooting pages, like refrigerator not cooling and dishwasher not draining, list the safe things to check.

No. If you go with the repair, the service call is free. If you decide not to repair, the $219 service call is the only charge.
