Bosch Dishwasher Error Codes

Bosch dishwashers run a self-check and show a code, usually an “E” followed by two digits, when something is wrong. The most common ones relate to water in the base, a blocked filter or a draining problem, and several of those you can check yourself. The meanings below are taken from Bosch’s US owner-support pages, linked for each code.

Common Bosch dishwasher codes

Code What Bosch says it means What you can do Source
E15 The safety switch has detected water in the base of the dishwasher. The leakage protection system has activated. Turn off the water supply to the dishwasher. This one needs service, because the leak itself has to be found. Bosch E15
E22 The filter is blocked. Remove the filter at the bottom of the tub, wash it under running water with mild soap and a soft brush, then reinstall it. Bosch E22
E23 Drain pump issue: the pump is blocked, clogged or faulty. Bosch directs owners to customer support. Usually a technician job. Bosch error code list
E24 The dishwasher isn’t draining properly. Bosch links it to a blocked drain filter. Check that the drain hose isn’t kinked and the connection to the sink drain is sealed. Make sure the pump cover under the filter isn’t loose. If the dishwasher drains into a new garbage disposal, check that the knock-out plug was removed. Then reset the dishwasher. Bosch E24
E25 The drain pump is blocked, or the drain pump cover is loose or missing. Remove the filter, take off the pump cover, clear debris and standing water (watch for broken glass), and refit the cover until it clicks. Bosch E25

Codes and their meanings can vary between Bosch series. Your owner’s manual, found by model number on Bosch’s site, is the final reference. Meanings checked October 2026.

Codes we haven’t listed

Bosch’s US list doesn’t show a code number for some of its other faults, so we haven’t guessed. These include heater and heat pump faults, flow meter problems and door sensor errors. For those, have the exact code and your model number (on the edge of the door) ready, and call us or Bosch.

When to call a technician

  • E15, or water under the dishwasher
  • E24 or E25 keeps coming back after you’ve cleaned the filter and checked the pump cover
  • The dishwasher won’t heat or dry, or shows a code that isn’t in the table above
