Cooktops fail in a few predictable ways. Gas burners click and won't light, or light and go out. Electric coils and radiant zones stop heating. Induction tops throw an error or stop sensing the pan. We work on built-in cooktops and rangetops, including the high-end ones a lot of Bay Area kitchens have.
Common cooktop problems we fix
Gas burner won't light
Dirty or wet igniter, a cracked electrode, a misaligned burner cap or a bad spark module.
Igniters click nonstop
Moisture after cleaning, a stuck burner switch or a failed spark module.
Electric zone won't heat
Burned-out element, a bad infinite switch or a loose connection under the glass.
Induction zone dead or showing an error
Power board, a fan that's not cooling the electronics, or a coil fault. Make sure the pan is induction-ready first.
Cracked glass top
We can replace the glass on many models. Stop using the zone if it's cracked, because liquid can get to the wiring.
Weak or yellow flame
Clogged burner ports or a wrong orifice after a gas conversion. Worth getting checked.

Frequently asked questions
How much does cooktop repair cost?
Cooktop repairs start from $275. The final price depends on the brand, model and part. The $219 service call is free if you go ahead with the repair.
Do you fix induction cooktops?
Yes. Most induction problems are a power board, a cooling fan or a sensor, and those are fixable.
Is a cooktop worth fixing or should I replace it?
A built-in cooktop is a pain to replace because the cutout has to match. Most igniter, switch and board repairs cost a lot less than a new unit plus the install.
My burners click after I clean the stovetop. Is it broken?
Usually just moisture. Let it dry out for a day with the caps off. If it keeps clicking, call us.
